Actually, ECs that share flash with the BIOS exist, and they are the worst since there is usually no way of on-line reflashing without crashing the EC, so you have to physically remove the chip every fucking time.

If only manufacturers just added a tiny physical switch and an extra flash chip (it's not like they're expensive, fuck). That way you would be guaranteed never to brick your computer (unless you're fucking retarded and rewrite both chips).
