Keith Packard: If we can provide competent 2D acceleration for those chips that just accelerated blits and painting solid rectangles, those chips would be in pretty good shape, much better than they were with XAA. But depending upon a GL environment just doesn't make any sense because: you're gonna have a GL driver, you're just gonna run GL applications.Lucas Stach: [uguu] But the point I'm trying to make is GL is pretty much the high overhead path to the hardware, at least for us. [uguu] You can really do better if you're closer to the hardware and Gallium is this interface which is really closer to the hardware so [uguu] we have something that is more appropriate to block in as a back-end for [uguu] for example Cairo or something… [uguu] it will really make a difference.
Ian Romanick: GL is high overhead on Gallium because Gallium [dramatic silence] because Gallium introduces a lot of overhead.

I don't know what the fuck is going on there, but that kid doesn't show a lot of confidence when he speaks, and those geezers do. So that makes me think that whatever he's selling isn't worth buying. They should get another confident geezer to promote/defend that thing (if it is defensible at all, that is).

Don't change these.
