sup /prog/ I'm trying to use Java + Xuggler to make a simple program that converts a sequence from an mkv file to an animated gif. How feasible do you think this is?

MKV is merely a media container, not a video coding method
also, there's really no need to create such software, as you can just use stuff like mkvtoolnix, avidemux. etc. and photoshop or gimp

dude, use the ffmpeg for the gif -codec, it aint hard to implement in ur java.
And gifsicle is for gif stuff, which you can use for ImageMagick for.
