Ruby on a rented LAMP server?

I'm renting a server which doesn't have Ruby installed, but I want to install a certain Ruby web application on my server. I don't have root privileges, since it's a rented shared server and I am just one of many users.

How can I convince my web host to install Ruby?

Send them a fucking email.

Build it from source and install it somewhere in your home directory. It's not that hard.
