What time is it?

expected lifespan for a programmer is 72 years.

72 / 24 = 3

one year = 3 hours

if you are 15 years old, 5:00 the sun is about to rise

when you are 21 years old, 7:00 it is time to get out of bed and eat breakfast
at 27 years old, 9:00  Time to do you life's work

You are 36 years old and the clock has just struck noon. What have you accomplished?

fourty five. There's still some time...

Before you know it, you are 60 years old, and it's time to make your commute home.

almost midnight. 70 years behind you. What happened? Was I worth it? Did I matter?

The clock strikes 12. Gong! your body returns back to the earth. But your creations shall live on in the stream of human life. No one will remember you, a spec ontop a drop in the vast sea of time. Yet, I existed. I did not achieve greatness with the likes of faraday and watt, but my dedication to the craft was fulfillment enough.

but my dedication to the craft was fulfillment enough.

I'm hoping medical technology will advance enough in my lifetime that death will be a choice.

Advances is synthetic genomics give me the most hope.  We are starting to achieve very efficient ways experimenting with DNA and organic matter.  If we can advance our abilities and understanding of genetic code and biology enough, there's hope that we can develop new treatments that would make death by aging far less inevitable.
