Why the do people use PHP when JSP exists? It kills PHP in just about every metric: runtime performance, separation of code, portability, and throughput.

The other alternative is ASP.NET if you're stuck on Microsoft shite. I still don't understand why SLOW AS FUCK PHP is still so widely used.

It's even harder when there's an entire JVM to manage. There's also the bloat of Java in general to contend with. PHP is tiny in comparison and easy to install and configure.
