A good way to start?

I would appreciate a quick answer and some second opinions about this: i'm interested in learning programming (decided to start with Java) and after a long search I've come to the conclusion that this is how I should start (note: completely beginner):

1. http://see.stanford.edu/see/courseinfo.aspx?coll=824a47e1-135f-4508-a5aa-866adcae1111 for an overview
2. Java, A Beginner's Guide, 5th Edition
3. http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/
4. Thinking In Java 4th edition

Am I going the right way or just being a stupid dick? Also what worries me is the outdated data especially in the last one (2006). Any advice, guys?
