Phone Apps

My dad is about to blow £1000 on an application that makes phone apps for him. The apps it makes are really basic, just a series of menus that give information, barely more complex than a static website. He seems to think he's going to make millions using it. I told him it was a bad idea, and I offered to make them for him instead. I've never made an app before, but have programming experience. What language can I write in to make these simple apps as fast as possible, without having to rewrite them for each phone? Am I really restricted to just objective C for iPhone and Java for Android? I suggested getting gamemaker, I figured if it's £100 and makes phone games, it can handle his shitty apps, but he just goes on about something about not wanting to make games.

Ideas?

Use phonegap or similar shitty framework to target multiple mobile platforms

While I believe other languages can be used, it's mainly Obj-C and Java. Learning those languages compared to shelling out £1000? I think the matter is trivial.

There's no getting around manually porting to different platforms, unless you use some grotesque lib. You can use Objective-C and C++ on iShit; Java, C, and C++ on Android; any .NET language for Windows Phone 7 although 8 will support native C++.

Don't change these.
