Since ancient times on patriarchal societies, women were used just as breeders, they should marry "what" their families had chosen and the profiting positions were obviously denied to them: monarchies, clerics and armies. In the greater context of our history it was not until very recently, with the technological development needs, that they were used to do industrial work for less money because of their apparent weakness.
