Privilege is an abstraction that describes patterns in society. That is all.
Why is it useful?  I've pointed out why I think it's a harmful abstraction, please point out why you think it's a good (therefore useful) abstraction.  I fail to see how studying privilege (as opposed to actual discrimination) is useful.

No, I'm afraid more and more people will misinterpret privilege and wage a war on the ,,privileged'' to ,,even things out''.  Idiotic things like restrictions on freedom of expression, so-called ,,affirmative action'', and eventually discrimination against the perceived ,,privileged'' are what I fear.  I know human stupidity has no boundaries, and this is why I fear.
