I installed the free version of ICC in Linux. The instructions say to access the compiler I have to type in:
source /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.10.319/bin/compilervars.sh ia32

is there any way to make ICC compiler commands a permanent part of the console?

I think it's shit quite frankly. Here is why:
-Closed source, need to pay them to make commercial software and can't contribute.
-They crippled ICC on AMD processors. Even if you're HURRWINTEL4LYFE this is still a dick move.
-Not as fast at compiling or good at producing debug information as Clang/LLVM and not as good at optimization as GCC.

In short: it fucking sucks and Intel could do much better. They have the money to hire the best C hackers to get a rocking compiler but instead they release a proprietary turd in the interest of trying to fuck over AMD.

I would imagine the only reason they made this compiler is to produce code to test out hardware optimizations. the fact that they release it as a retail product is probably hardly worth their time as it has almost no market share
