I believe you are overestimating /prog/ in 2010.

Where do people get this idea that /prog/ was ever good?

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-23 14:36

NIGGER, NIGGER, AND MORE NIGGER!

/prog/ has always played to the most refined taste, this is nothing new

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-23 16:40

/prog/ is an acquired taste.

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-23 16:49

/prog/'s various minor ``Golden Ages'' have always been sparked by single people (Xarn, Christopher) or very small groups (#sicp, #bbcode).
If you want /prog/ to be better, make it better. People will follow suit at least for a while. Just don't expect shitposting to stop for it.

jaypee-tachi told me to come here. I like this place.

And sorry, eh, but would you mind giving us some funds for redesigning our beloved Hakurei Shrine?

Name: VIPPER 2012-04-23 18:07

/prog/ was always shit, but it used to be less shit and has had better content once in a while.

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-23 21:03

I blame moot. He needs to get off his ass and fix this place instead of using all the 100 Euro notes that canv.as brings in to wipe VacBob's HIV tainted cum off his face.

I blame Jews.

Common Lisp is shit though.

Sounds like you're some mental midget that wants to be an ENTERPRISE developer and work C++ the rest of his toilet scrubbing life.

Name: Anonymous 2012-04-24 7:06

Well... Sussman is a jew, isn't he.

Should we bring back the JEWS spam?

Everyone on every board seems to think that ``it was better before.'' Best indicator of newfaggotry trying to fit in.

It was better when we had programming contests and Xarn.

http://dis.4chan.org/read/prog/1334355678/40 is Xarn. You can tell because it's working, non-trivial code.

I should read threads less superficially. I'm quite happy to be wrong.

Quality has varied by time. It was not very good, then it was better, then it was worse, then it was very bad, then it was much better, then it was worse, then it was downright awful, then it was much better, then it average, then it was bad, then it was bad, then it was boring, then I stopped caring and only refreshed once or twice per day and only respond a few times per week or less.

What is clear though is that the ``quality'' right now is not at its peak and /prog/ has had much better times. I can't remember any actual era which wasn't plagued by some problems, but I do remember weeks when the quality was actually overall quite high to keep enough people engaged. Today, I think a lot of us are just bored and contribute less, maybe some other day things will change.

/prog/ isn't dead, nor alive.
