Why is /prog/ so shit?

Name: summerfag 2012-03-22 12:43

This board is shit. It's like /g/ without desktop threads but worse. There are no serious threads or threads about programming worth reading. The worst part is that it's filled with spam all the time.

1) Was it always like this?
2) Are you satisfied with it?
3) Are mods satisfied with it?
4) Are there any mods?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 12:46

It was a better a week or so ago. Then the spammers began. They probably think they are teaching us all a lesson and y so srs and all that. Dumb.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 12:49

OK, I take this back:

>There are no serious threads or threads about programming worth reading.

But the level of spam is awful.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 12:50

I would like a lesson in Scala

Now I'm a little bit paranoid

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 12:55

Not true. There are serious threads, but they always get thoroughly derailed by petty discussions and unnecessary mutual harassments for no apparent reason than mere vanity or pure lack of minimum social skills. The noise created by the overall shitposting further demotivates people to do anything interesting at all.

/prog/ has actually a somewhat intelligent audience, but this intelligence is limited only for programming and technicisms. There's absolutely no range of social intelligence, and people simply act like dirty baboons bashing each other over retarded discussions, instead of doing anything constructive. The few who try to do that get mercilessly trolled and offended and probably never come back.

In summary:

1) Not sure.
2) No.
3) There are no mods.
4) There are no mods.

/prog/ has very effective moderation, ``faggot''

>There are no mods
>>4
I believe you're mod

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:02

If you don't like it, you can always get out. Nobody's forcing you to stay.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:10

>>9
You can fuck off, ``faggot''.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:21

Nobody said I'm staying, either.

The difference is that once in a while I come back to see if anything has changed, or if there is something interesting happening. Maybe in the mean term I can contribute to something.

I don't know of any other programming board in the shapes of this place (mainly, anonymous posting). If you do, please mind sharing.

Not me (OP).
>>9
I get it.

Elaborating further, the point is it's adolescent to respond "well, that's just the way things are" to any grievance that someone may have. It may be a fool's errand to try and change /prog/ with awareness, since the bona fide trolls that populate this board know what they're doing, but that standard nerd reaction is a red herring, as the poster actually cares enough about the board than to just leave not even mad hurr durr.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:35

the reason why I shit on /anus/ is because I love your angry reactions

How are you faggots doing?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:42

/prog/ is based on the honor system. A faggot named ``tray'' started the spam about a week ago. If /prog/ had even one single mod they could ban that fucker and delete the spam. But /prog/ doesn't have any mods, so we'll have to wait until he gets tired of it.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:44

>>13
Agreed.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:44

>>19
Person who just spammed /prog/ today. I am not ``tray''. I never have and never will post with any sort of alias. There's more than one shitposter, silly.

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:45

>>21

Why do you shitpost?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:49

>>22
Why not?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 13:50

>>23
Because it's bad.

Mods are faggots and the cancer killing 4chan ( not to say that there aren't other, more malignant cancers). Thank god there aren't any here.

>>21
You are not a shitposter, shitposting is more intelligent than blind, mindless spam. Suigin is a shitposter. Moot is a shitposter. Kimmo Alms is a spammer. You are a spammer. Enjoy being like Kimmo.

Hitler wore socks. You wear socks. Therefore, you are like Hitler.

That kind of logic just doesn't work. I can't understand how such an illogical person can be a programmer. You can't be very successful.

Maybe I am Hitler.

Every fagggot on this board is trying so hard to be funny and sarcastic ,but in reality, they are just faggots

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-22 14:46

Maybe just maybe we should request to be self moderated.

Hi guys,

I'm glad someone posted this. It's time /prog/ changed, and for the better! It is for that reason that I am nominating myself as moderator of this board. I have all the qualities you are looking for, as I have worked in Enterprise for over 20 years. /prog/ needs experience, in the form of professionalism, and I can offer you just that!

Thanks
