GDB was designed to be painful to use to discourage programmers from making bugs in the first place, kind of like how whipping slaves discouraged them from making mistakes. There is never a good reason to use it.

GDB at least has the excuse of being designed to be used over a serial terminal. Microsoft had no such excuse for WinDbg.
