Why can't Linux be as easy as Windows

I guess you get what you pay for. UNIX is over 40 years old. They should just design a new OS entirely as a base system.

There are better OSes like VMS, i5/OS, Multics, Genera, Inferno and EROS but they either only run on machines that cost more than ten thousand dollars, haven't been developed in 20 years, or are research OSes that have no programs other than the ones that come with the OS.
