Firstly; I fail to see how this belongs in /prog/.
Secondly; this issue takes some background info.
In the late 19th century, several German-speaking nations became one. These were already industrial and economical powerhouses, and so a united Germany looked posed to become a serious economic superpower firmly out of both French and English control. Scary stuff.
1914: The French&Brits had been proven right, the Germans were now a serious contender, mere decades after unification.
Enter World War 1. Initially this was nothing more than yet another pissing contest, but the European alliance structure of the time would drag Germany into it, and provide the French&Brits an excuse to gang up on Germany to slap her down for being clever.
1918: Germany defeated, job done. Time to finish off the troublesome upstart, enter the Treaty of Versailles. Excessively crippling and humiliating, but Germany was defeated and had no choice but to accept. Might makes right.
The motive for the treaty was to keep Germany down forever. That didn't work, though; instead the Germans were pissed and wanted revenge. Or at least to restore Germany to its rightful glory, and flip a huge big bird in the general direction of the Allies.
Enter one politician who looked like he was gonna give the Germans that. His name was Adolf…
I don't know how true the Holocaust story really is, but the fact that it's the only part of history ever to be a punishable offence to disbelieve in the West, gives me some seriously bad vibes.
tl;dr: If it really is a myth, then the Holocaust is the perfect tool to keep a lid on German self-respect. Germany does prosper and stuff, but there are, to this day, some six million whips to slap down the Germans with, should they get too uppity.
As such, it succeeds where the Treaty of Versailles failed.
If it really is true, then the Holocaust story is being handled rather badly. They're really begging for conspiracy theories on that one.

That is something directed primarily against Germany. Even in U.S. (the most jewish of all countries) you can freely assert that you're sceptical about Holocaust, UFOs and God.
Some jewish foundations use Holocaust denial to raise money and make living. They even go to such lengths as drawing swastikas on Holocaust memorials, then howling then about evil nazis.
In effect, everyone is sick of Holocaust forced meme and now it produces only hatred towards jews. Because even 6 millions is nothing compared to the total death toll of all genocides happened in 20th century. After all, jews deserved it with their pretentious behaviour and arrogance.
