Stripping down 4chan extension

Hi guys, I recently moved up from the old 4chan extension (http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/) to the awesome 4chan x script. Thing is, it doesn't have the 4chan menu bar item like the old extension did. Can anyone guide me on how to make a menu bar, probably from stripping down the old code to make it only add the menu bar item?

I've tried adding the extension on top of the 4chan x script and disabling everything but the menu bar entry but it just results in a buggy mess.
