The D Programming Language

Name: Anonymous 2012-01-18 14:00

What does /prog/ think of D? It seems like a large improvement over C++, while keeping many of its strengths.

Name: Anonymous 2012-01-18 14:10

You posted that just as an excuse to say strengths, the longest English word with only one vowel, didn't you?

You got me. May as well have a pleasant discussion now that you're here.

Like how simple it would be to write a D program to find the longest word in the English language with only one vowel.

It's a poor attempt, and I don't understand why there are two libraries.

The biggest problem in D is that it includes garbage collection. How the hell is it supposed to repolace C++ if it has GC?

GC is shit.

Name: Anonymous 2012-01-18 18:38

Why don't you just turn it off then?

Because someone said turning off GC in D breaks the standard library.

GC is great. But I agree with the rest.

programming != programming language, real programmers can program anything in any language.. only the performance will vary

Therefore, assembly program is The Way.
