I hate marijuana users

I hate marijuana users.

I hate them with every fiber in my being. I hate them more than anything else in this world. I have more hate for them than anyone who has hate for something and I assume the rest of my Straight Edge brethren would sympathize with me.

Why do I hate them?

-They are breaking the law.
-They are using a substance that is more cancer-causing than tobacco and more harmful to the brain than alcohol.
-They make up bullshit lies about marijuana being a relatively safe substance and being useful for medicinal purposes despite the fact that there are tons of studies proving otherwise.
-They are influencing the mass media and our culture into condemning anyone who doesn't do drugs and glamorizing this poisonous deliriant of a drug.
-They verbally harass and condemn everyone who doesn't smoke weed.

I would also like to make clear that everyone who thinks weed should be legalized is a pot smoker. And I'm sure none of you Straight Edgers associate with anyone who smokes weed. Thanks for understanding where I'm coming from.

First off, paedophilia is a paraphilia. It's sort of like a fetish, except fetishes traditionally refer to objects, and plenty of paedophiles are also/more interested in the romantic aspect of relationships just like anyone else. Being a paedophile does not necessarily mean you have sex with children, you have had sex with children, you have molested children, or even that you want to have sex with children (in the same way that some homosexuals would refuse gay sex).

Right now, paedophiles have a DSM-recognised mental disorder. They should be getting help, but they cannot because society has shunned them. Headlines rarely say, ``Child molester caught by police,'' they say things like, ``Paedophile caught by police,'' even if they're not a tabloid (tabloids like to go with things such as, ``Sick, twisted paedo put to justice''). Everyone treats paedophiles--not child molesters--like scum, because they're supposedly inherently bad people even if it's something they cannot control.

Now, I personally believe the production of more explicit child pornography should be illegal, or at least it should go through a very thorough process to be made. Most ``child pornography'' out there is just lewd child modelling, mostly from an era or country where it was legal. The kids are smiling, the parents were paid, consent was given. It rarely destroys their lives any more than adult pornography destroys adults'. Distribution should definitely be legal, especially for content that already exists. Despite what people (seriously) seem to believe, there's no psychic field that makes kids relive their abuse every time some horny middle-aged man gets his jollies off to their pictures.

So, legal child pornography would give paedophiles an outlet. Heterosexual pornography doesn't make men into rapists, and I doubt child pornography would significantly increase the number of child molesters. In fact, I think it might reduce the number, since now they have something to get sexual gratification from without fear of being caught. Banning lolicon (as the US and most of the EU do) is also stupid, and a Dutch study found cartoon paedophilia to be harmless.

Right, now back to your point, so this doesn't look like a big, off-topic rant or straw man. Children legally cannot give consent. To be frank, children are stupid and don't understand anything. If we let kids do whatever they wanted, they would probably all die in traffic accidents after losing all their teeth from eating sugar for every meal. This is why we have parents and caregivers, who make responsible decisions on behalf of their children. Maybe there is no way a child can be psychologically ready for sex, and I think it is something that needs empirical research without any political drama or fear of censorship. Perhaps we could legalise adult-child sex but require the child to undergo a proper sex education, and for the adult to seek the parents' approval.

None of this matters though. For as liberal as we're all becoming, the persecution of paedophiles will only get worse. People have even started to call hebephiles and ephebophiles "paedophiles", which is ridiculous because the latter is perfectly normal. I think paedophilia, child pornography and child molestation are second only to the Holocaust in the list of things you are simply not allowed to talk about without agreeing with everyone else's accepted view. Even if you do, your reputation is destroyed forever. God bless you, ``freedom of speech''!
