How to get rid of ICANN Monopole

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-26 9:40

I'm annoyed by the fact, that everything online is free except for domains. It's possible nowadays anyway, the problem is just that you can use two nameservers at once. What do you think of specifying the nameserver in the url, like:
http:/my_own_dns_server/my_domain/foobar
http:/icann/com/google/search?q=derp
Alternatively:
http:/icann.com/google/search?q=derp
http:/icann/com.google/search?q=derp

The OS would have a file per user with lines like:
icann <ip1> <ip2> <ip3>
my_own_dns_server <ip1>

And to update this config-files there are these ways:
* System (Your OS updates patch the new IPs for you)
* Server (The server reports an upcoming IP migration)
* Sub (get the IP of this server from another dns server)

The problem is domainspam. That's why all distributed DNS won't work. "Moderators" are required, but I don't think that ICANN should be the only one.

Netsukuku
Just how high do you have to be to think of such a name?

The protocol is obviously more complex as the system provides a public/private key to authenticate the hosts and prevent unauthorized changes to ANDNA database. Furthermore, the protocol provides redundancy database to make the protocol resistant to any failures and also provides for the migration of the database if the network topology changes. The protocol does not provide for the possibility of revoking a symbolic name, this after a certain period of inactivity (currently 3 days) is simply deleted from the database. The protocol also prevents a single host to record an excessive number of symbolic names (at present 256 names) in order to prevent spammers to store a high number of terms commonly used or to perform actions of cybersquatting.

If you're willing to spend a few hours on some shady sites with autofill enabled, you may be able to get a free (as in beer) domain name.

Don't change these.
