On Google Chrome

Why do people hype Google Chrome so much ? It's only been around for three years (versus, say, Mozilla or IE which have been there since at least the mid-90's) and it copy-pasted Safari's engine. What's more, Google is making "web apps" that only work on it. It's so retarded they've been considering removing the URL bar in a future release.

Because it's Google?

I remember there was also quite big advertisement for it on front page and in side panel.

chrome forced mozilla to step up their game with several innovations:

more minimal ui than firefox
the fastest javascript engine - v8 (this is not part of webkit)
a fast built in pdf reader
better process model (just look at http://mrdoob.com/lab/javascript/tests/timer.html for example)
automatic, silent updating
simple syncing
built in web dev tools better than firebug (and way better than firefox's horrendous built in web dev tools)
