It's not just learning materials. It's an actual class. You sign up, do assignments, chat with your peers, do some tests and then get a worthless certificate.
They upload the lecture videos to YouTube though.

The certificate is probably worth more than most CS degrees out there with their first-year java. Plus, only AI Class uploads to youtube directly. I see no use in speaking to my peers though, fucking little cunts.

Signed up for the current three and had to drop two to keep up with my IRL studies, work, and sitting in a corner doing nothing caused by depression. I still haven't learned my lesson, so I am signing up for these.

It's going to come in handy during the classes proper. Each professor will have their own way of doings things and it's better to get (assignments|chat|lectures).x-class.org rather than (x-assignments|x-chat|x-lectures).stanfordclasses.org.

to hell with that useless thing, noone needs them anyway and if
 you really want you can easily fake it. but... if i can learn a
 thing or two on one of these courses i'm tempted.

it's a shame i'm also facing insurmountable laziness, but that
 might be caused by excessive weed smoking or chronic exhaustion
 (we just had a baby). i'm thinking of giving one of these
 classes a try.

Artificial Intelligence class, by Prof. Norvig and co., Machine Learning class by Prof. Ng, and Databases class by I-forgot-because-I-dropped-it-in-week-two.

Sadly had to drop ML—he's a really great teacher, though. Luckily, it's being offered again next semester. Still doing AI and got 66% on the mid-term without any revision. I just don't really have the time right now. And next semester's workload is even greater, so I expect I'll be dropping almost all of these again. :-(
