I had the same idea after I saw a similar thread on 4-ch, OP.

However world4ch will not be around in 10 years. moot will have deleted it for extra bandwidth during the Reddit merger by then.

Well we still have world4ch and with moot not needing shiitchan he would surely release the code, plus all threads are can be archived so we could rebuild /prog/ in the exact same state it is while still no longer having to bother with moot, 4chan or imageboard faggotry.

We could try to convince the dude that owns world4ch.org to not just redirect shit, but also to copy every thread on a server for archival and when the time comes we would just continue from there.
Most webhosts offer "infinite space" these days, that should be enough to store all this shit, considering how moot can afford this despite not giving a wet shit about this place.

I would love to see world4ch BBS in my title bar one day.
