Time capsule

As soon as this thread is posted, I'm configuring a cron job to bump it in exactly 10 years. What wisdom would you like to impart on the /prog/ of the future?

Doo-doo.

Read SICP.

If it ain't Lisp, it's crap.

In 10 years, /prog/ will have captchas.

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-07 12:40

In ten years, everyone will check my dubz.

/prog/ won't be here in 10 years.

Write "ROBOTS TOOK MY JOB!"

or "2021 THE YEAR OF THE ANONIX DESKTOP"

I had the same idea after I saw a similar thread on 4-ch, OP.

However world4ch will not be around in 10 years. moot will have deleted it for extra bandwidth during the Reddit merger by then.

The best thing that could happen is /prog/ getting rid of moot and 4chan.

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-07 15:53

If that's how you feel, there are plenty of alternatives:
· 7chan's /pr/
· 420chan's /prog/
· 4-ch's /code/
· REchan
and 0-2 others I can't be bothered to think of right now.

Well we still have world4ch and with moot not needing shiitchan he would surely release the code, plus all threads are can be archived so we could rebuild /prog/ in the exact same state it is while still no longer having to bother with moot, 4chan or imageboard faggotry.

Yeah, right. I can also open a text editor and write some posts for myself, that would feel the same. The boards you named have one post every 3 months on average.

It's better that way.

shiichan code is available.

Not world4ch's version.

This is a programming forum. 99% of us should be able to write better software than shitchan in a weekend, at most.

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-07 16:51

But none of us could be bothered to actually do it.

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-07 16:52

Writing a crappy textboard in Lisp would be an insult to Lisp.

I doubt your mom will give you money on hosting, especially abuse free hosting.

The thing is shiitchans bugs are somewhat more features at times.

We could try to convince the dude that owns world4ch.org to not just redirect shit, but also to copy every thread on a server for archival and when the time comes we would just continue from there.
Most webhosts offer "infinite space" these days, that should be enough to store all this shit, considering how moot can afford this despite not giving a wet shit about this place.

I would love to see world4ch BBS in my title bar one day.

Don't change these.
