Anyone who considers arithmetical methods of producing random digits is, of course, in a state of sin.

You know, I'm realizing that x86 is a pretty bad instruction set, even for programmers.
I can't wait until ARM takes over so we can throw that shit. It's not like the ARMs are the greatest instruction sets ever, but hell, ARMv8 may even turn out pretty good.

The writing is on the wall. Huge ARM clusters will be common in the server market in five to ten years. Intel can't react in time to counter them on power usage and cost, which is what the professional players care about. Meanwhile the smart phone and tablet market is growing upwards to small portable PCs that do the stuff the commoners need.
x86/AMD64 will stick around, but relegated to legacy apps, supercomputers and hardcore gaming.

Yeah, with signed and locked bootloaders and PowerVR integrated 3d accelerators.  Yeah, no, if ARM means losing my freedom, I'll be sticking to x86 thank you very much.

Dinosaurs gonna dinosaur, meanwhile people who know what they're doing are running OSS, or at least VM code. There is always an upstart.
Sure, there's the occasional forgotten VMS box serving files from a closet somewhere. x86 can have that position. That won't buck the trend.

signed and locked bootloaders
This is where EFI, designed by the Intel Jews to steal your freedom and Palestinian land, comes in.

You're just realizing that now? Intel themselves realized that back in 1978. That's why they've been trying to kill it off ever since 1981.

EFI is just a shitty legacy BIOS replacement. Signed and locked bootloaders on the x86 could be achieved via legacy BIOS, you know.

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-03 0:43

signed and locked bootloaders
my bootloader is unlocked and doesn't need to be signed, though the one i'm currently using is signed.

PowerVR integrated 3d accelerators.
there are plenty of other options... adreno, tegra, etc.

Don't change these.
