how to do...

I am proficiency in many languages, but in none of them have i learned how to accept system information to do things such as program a driver and I can't find any tutorials for it (maybe i'm just using the wrong key words)

but how do you do it really any language will do, my primaries are perl, sepples, C, java, and python
