Optimism vs Realism

What could [/]prog possibly &/or realistically hope to achieve, now and in the near, or even distant future?

Yeah, I probably need to play a bit more of both. Playing that dretch character in Tremulous and walking on walls confuse me to no end. Perhaps I may improve my visual spatial reasoning skills if I spend more time as a dretch.
