Programming in the Touhouland

I stumble upon a lot of moonspeak when I search for clojure in Twitter. Why does it seem to be so popular in Japan?

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-11 6:51

Japan is not Touhouland. Gensôkyô is.

I wasn't saying it with a negative connotation. This habitation is truly an example of keen sense of style and mental maturity. Saying all Lispers live like that is merely a compliment if anything.

Interesting one. Why are Japs so obsessed with food? There is one picture with Lisp saying something and the rest is food, food, food.

Lisp is a programming language, therefore it sucks.

Can't stop doing it, it's mesmerizing. Mysterious Japanese soul.

One book about Clojure and lots of food. Also a goat.

truthiness by my definition is something which can lead to theories that are somewhat plausable.  Why things are plausible, I'm not sure, but it gets at unscientific human nature.  Voodoo, for example, seems absurd, but you kinda know what logic produced it.

This much, I'm pretty sure of -- not every theory with truthiness is true.  A psychotic break with reality is when any idea that pops in your head, you think is true!

Eating a Japanese diet, making you behave with more of a Japanese soul, has an element of this truthiness to it.  These theories come so fast and furious, you just shove them aside and label them, "who knows, but don't act crazy or they lock you up!"  We all remember what not being crazy was like.

Pleasant things are usually "bad" and unpleasant things "good" by a common sense moral compass.

The is funny.  Luke 10

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Acting in your own self-interest is nothing to admire.  Poor voting to tax the rich is contemptible, knowing nothing else.

This much I've learned -- don't go to the other extreme.  I , now, have a word for it: "proud of heart".

When they lock-up a mental person, they take them to a regular hospital and put them in restraints.  One time, I was admitted while thinking intently about proud of heart ideas.  They put me in a bed next to an old guy.  I thought, okay I'm not okay with having my organs donated!  screw that!

D is popular too. Japs are not afraid of actually using new programming languages rather than just flaming on textboards. What a surprise.

It took me a while to warm up to it, but I ended up really enjoying the game. I'm pretty mid-level though - can't beat a lot of the songs on extreme, so ymmv.
