Scala and Traits

Name: Anonymous 2011-09-09 8:09

Hi dear fags:

In my company we are going to start a proyect where roles or mixins would prove useful.

I know that perl6 and ruby had them, but most programmers here are java monkeys.

Has any of you had any experience using Scala Traits? Or Scala at all? I don't know any java, i'm just reading introductory material about Scala now.

All I know right now is that I DON'T WANT TO USE JAVA EVER.

Scala fixes Java.

Clojure fixes Java. Scala adds another level of UNNECESSARY BULLSHIT and compromises.

Trick or Trait?

Multiple inheritance is a trick. A dirty one

Hm, I didn't know about Scala.

I want to write some small games in Java using one of the many publically available game engines written in that language. Can I use Scala and Clojure with a Java library like that seamlessly,  without conflict?

Yes, all Java libs work with Scala and Clojure.

Clojure compiles directly into JVM bytecode. Interaction with Java libraries is absolutely transparent: with http://clojure.org/java_interop

i am also interested in traits, except i want to use them in javascript.

there is an implementation for javascript, but it makes some boneheaded decisions, imo (like freezing an object when you make it with traits... so you can't modify anything!)
