Programming

okay /prog/ so here's the thing, i Know c++, i know algorithms but i have no idea how to give it a focus to make software, i mean i could do something that would work for making an information system, but lets say i wanted just to make something more related to computers, like idk, a convertor from certain format to another or something like that. I have no idea how i would do this.

help? tips?
