Smalltalk

I downloaded Squeak and I'm trying to learn it and it's the most complex and unrewarding shitshow I've ever had the misery to program with. Perhaps it's a testament to Alan Kay's genius that he wrote something this monstrous with children in mind.

I agree. Smalltalk sucks.

Instead of learning Squeak implementation it would be better to learn the Smalltalk80 language itself. Just about every classic book every written has been made available for free by some guy name Stephan Ducass

Even Swing looks better than Squeak. For fuck sake, they are so politically correct that they don't even use "left mouse button" term.
