Should I Learn To Use Emacs?

Hey, /prog/ noob here, currently learning Python, Javascript and interested in learning Perl. I'm using Gedit at the moment, but I always hear people say how emacs is the king of editors, I downloaded it and it it looks amazing, but the learning curve looks steep as shit. I've been both advised to learn it, and told that it's too complex to learn now.

Opinions?

Anyone who wants to program for a living is either:
A) Fucking retarded (there are little to no ``good" programming jobs)
B) Fucking brilliant (most if not all of the good programming jobs are taken by these guys)
C) Indian

For everyone else, this issue is nonexistent.
