what does enterprise mean?

Could anyone tell me what people are trying to say when they say something is enterprise? I don't get why this word is thrown around so much on job ads and development platforms and such. Is there a difference between something that is enterprise and something that is not enterprise?

thanks friend. I guess the words closed, proprietary, and expensive have too negative of a connotation.
