C is what we call a blub language, as long as users of C is looking down the abstraction continuum, they'll think their language is superior. All they see is ASM which is slower to code in. But as soon as C programmers look up, they'll see more powerful languages like Java and Visual Basic, which has better tools like object oriented features and garbage collection. The C programmer is what the Chinese call, a frog living at the bottom of a well

Python is what we call a blub language.  As long as the user of Python is looking down the abstraction continuum, they'll think their language is superior.  All they see is C which is slower to code in.  But as soon as Python programmers look up, they'll see more powerful languages like Lisp and Fjölnir, which have better tools like programming the language to do anything you want and "GRUNNUR".  The Python programmer is what the Chinese call, a frog living at the bottom of a well.

Wow, Lisp and Fjölnir must be powerful indeed. I'm writing a webapp and would like to leverage this power. I'm currently using the super-powerful Python technologies Django for request handling and Mercurial for distributed version control. I suspect that the Lisp and Fjölnir equivalents of these tool are ULTRA-POWERFUL and I would like to start using them right away. So...what are they?

Racket and Git, asshole

Yeah Git is written in C. That makes it fast as FUCK

Who needs ``request handling and Mercurial for distributed version control'' when they can just program those features directly into their language?

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-25 18:24

ASM: Rewrite it for different machines, very fast.
C: Slightly slower, but it will run on just about anything.
Java: Slower, but not by much. However it has outstanding security issues.
Visual Basic: Much slower and only work son a Microsoft OS.

I've never heard of Racket. Who uses it? Why are you recommending Git when I specifically asked for something written in Lisp and Fjölnir? Mercurial is useful because it's written in pure Python and can therefore be imported as a module and used directly in my project. I figured that since Lisp and Fjölnir are so much more powerful that they make the Python developer seem like a toad in a well, that they would have a much more powerful equivalent.

Obviously, you can write these in Python, or else they wouldn't exists as Python packages written in Python, would they? So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, other than that these technologies don't exist as Lisp or Fjölnir packages. Am I wrong, or are Lisp and Fjölnir not as powerful as I've been tricked into believing?
