This kid's been studying programming for a month and he's always better than me after years. ;_; Do you ever think /prog/ is making us worse programmers? Maybe I should stop wasting my time talking SICP with /prog/ and contribute to /r/programming and hopefully actually learn something from people who can actually program.

If it is Lisp, it ain't a Chrome Extension. It's probably just a useless script that does nothing.

How do you know he is better than you?

>>1 is right. I have been trolled into buying this book: the SICP for dummies thing. While it was quite readable it teaches absolutely nothing about Google Chrome scripting. I feel like I have been ripped off and now I am considering leaving this place fo'evah and lurk experts-exchange where people with real jobs hang.

SICP is mush-brained drivel by a pseudo-intellectual cockpouch. It's right up there with TAOCP and K&R as things that idiots read to make people think they're smart.

Exactly. Idiots tend to read in general. But nobody think they're smart, they're just boring.
Look:

* TAOCP: 1962
* K&R: 1973
* SICP: 1984

This is plain stupid. We don't use teletype anymore, wake up! What's the use of those old dusty manuals. You don't even need to read paperbooks. We, people of the 21st century have forums, reddit, twitter, IRC, and many places to learn real modern programming interactively.

Either IHBT or /prog/ has become irrecoverable.

IHBT into believing that you're really not sure if YHBT.

Because asking ``experts'' is easier than becoming an expert yourself?
Terrible!

* Reading those books does not make you an expert.
* There's nothing wrong with asking the experts.

Don't change these.
