They reintroduced lazy, values are in core, but SRFI-9 and SRFI-4 (reader syntax for blobs) won, when the alternatives for SRFI-9 were clearly superior, and R6RS bytevectors' syntax was simpler. Backwards compatibility is the root of all evil.
