4chan's HTML layout

Why is it so broken? Why not at least add a div tag around threads, so that I don't have to think for three hours before I can come up with some XPath/CSS selector shit to mark a thread? Why complain about bandwidth, when there are about seven million useless attributes on every second tag? Why is there still no functionality to view a single post without having to load the corresponding page/thread with it (for user scripts to preview posts, mainly)?

I don't get it. Moot must have someone to do that shit.
