I was suggested to learn Common lisp, just wondering if this is worth reading.

I haven't done any programming since high school and I really enjoyed it, but it was C++, so I'm completely lost on what to learn.

That's a fine book, but you'll also want a local copy of the HyperSpec and a good implementation(such as SBCL or ClozureCL) and Emacs+SLIME+Paredit(+others, such as Redshank).
