How come I don't hear people talking about pascal all that often?
It has great performance and its easier than C++

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-02 17:36

because python exists

But you can't compile python
Also its far weaker performance wise

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-02 17:39

But you can't compile python
Yes you can.

Well the python editor sure as hell won't let me

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-02 17:50

>>5
Why don't you try compiling C code in Notepad++ and then come back and tell me C can't be compiled.

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-02 17:55

C is interpreted.

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-02 17:56

you can compile python, but a quick google search shows the speedup is minimal.

Because C displaced it, for the reasons listed in ``Why Pascal Is Not My Favorite Programming Language''. Delphi is kind of hanging on and Free Pascal is pretty good, but that's all.

All the cool kids use Oberon.

<-- that's cool and all, but check 'em

Pascal is too verbose, like BASIC.

Okay, remove libc and C runtime from your OS.

Fucking retard.

Can't do that? Too much interpreter dependency in the OS?

Name: Anonymous 2011-07-03 1:11

TCC can run code interpreted

I was learning Pascal in high school, it was good. But indeed it made my wrist hurt. Too fucking verbose.

well, that's why I love Ruby, although it's slow as fuck

Pascal is fine. I prefer Scheme and Haskell.
