Absolute beginner programming book?

Hi,

I've been following the apps on the app store since it came out and watched WWDC on the apple website. It has really inspired me into thinking that programming may be something I would enjoy doing.

So I started looking around at where to start (I'd done a tiny bit of basic HTML before, so I have pretty much no experience in programming). I was told that Xcode was based on Objective C, and Objective C was based on C (please correct me if I'm wrong).

So I decided to go about learning C so I could try and work my way up. Everyone seemed to say the best book was "The C Programming Language" (K&R). So I got hold of this book but as I begun to read, it immeadiately dropped me into phrases like "arguments" and "integers" without really seeming to explain what they were or what they do (for a non-programmer anyway).

So, does anybody know any absolute beginners books on C (Or other languages if I should be learning something else).

read K&R and google the terms you don't understand

do NOT read SICP as will teach you a very obsolete and unreadable language. it will also turn you gay, which you probably don't want (unless you are aroused by the thought of having a dick up your shithole).

Read SICP, then read K&R.

Read K&R and stay the fuck away from SICP and anything Lisp or Scheme.

parameters and integers are mathematical terms. If you want to program, learn some basic maths first.

Read both K&R and SICP. The order doesn't really matter.

Ignore >>7. Don't read SICP. It will fuck up your brain and you will write code with thousands of useless parentheses.

Read Head First Java.

SICP is ok for beginner but if you want to learn it the best way right from the start you should start with a real book like "The C Programming Language"

C has static typing which comes from Jewish Set Theory religion. Do not read K&R, will teach you infinity nonsense that Jews use to control world with infinite bank loans based on fake money.
