I failed to secure myself an internship this summer and I thought maybe I can do some free lancing.

I'm not doing it for the money (although I could use some spare change).

Anyway, I suppose some of you on /prog/ have some experience that I could use.

I use vworker. It's acceptable as long as you want to earn the money to buy several bottles of Jack's every week and not to make a living.

You would probably be better off writing malware and selling it.

Most of the people on /prog/ can't help you find a job. They've all adopted an entry level programming book (SICP) as their bible and swear by a programming language that after 50 years has never been used to program something useful (LISP).

I've never used oDesk so I can't comment on it. I've used Elance, but you'll need experience and a portfolio to find a job there. A good place to build experience is Freelancer, though you'll be competing with a lot of third-world fags willing to work 2 cents a day. When you're applying for a job, don't let them deter you, just be honest about what your time is worth and convince your client that it's worth that until you find a client who's willing to pay fairly for quality work.
