CS Undergraduate Research Prep

Hi /prog/,

I am currently a rising sophomore (CS major, of course), and I am wondering what I can do to prepare myself for some undergrad research. The faculty from my university posts research projects that we can apply for, and I'm hoping to apply to one next year. So, what can I do to make my application for this stand out?

if you are as good as you say you are, just start contacting professors with projects that are interesting to you.
