Radial Graph

Name: Anonymous 2011-06-22 19:07

My boss needs me to make a visual poll/voting area on his website that will dynamically draw a graph based around the decisions the user makes. I envision it to be a circular graph with radial buttons that branch out. Multiple rings to have quite a lot of diversity. I went ahead and copy/pasted what my boss had emailed me.

"To make this happen, we'd need data tables for users and for games, and a good interface.  It'd be super cool if the chart could draw itself on the fly as users click the buttons (or maybe just anywhere inside the level they choose), but that will take some creative flash/java work.  This part of the site wouldn't need to be searchable, so it could be an iframe within wordpress, although it would need a reasonably secure user-login bridge."

Any tips on where to begin? Anyone done a project like this before and want to divulge any info? Thanks in advance.

My explanation was complete shit. Here's a better representation. The o's in the graph below would decide how much you wanted to invest in one of the 4 subjects. You can only choose 1 button for each subject. After you've chosen all 4 selections you would then have a graph drawn for you depending on your choices. I can further explain if it still doesn't make any sense.

Apparently my circle got demolished. Looks like some sort of tree vagina.

Regardless, any tips appreciated. I think I'm going to try to work this in flash.

Linux Journal had an interesting article on graphing a few months ago maybe you should refer to that.

In fact we were also doing bar graphs here a few months ago so I'm sure it's not too complicated.

Don't change these.
