Yes I know. What I meant was having a mod key instead of the capslock so I don't need to xmodmap the capslock to esc.

Anyway, that's not a priority, really. I'm just searching for a split keyboard because I'm suffering from some serious wrist pain right now.

Basically you don't have to touch xmodmap at all, you can do it all in vim.
