Judging from all these rapturous youtube documentaries (who finances them?), "autism" shows itself as yet another hoax, like ADHD, holocaust and UFOs. They just blindly label various kids as autistic.
Loose definitions of autism produce bigger and more newsworthy statistics, which in turn can attract more children into existing programs and attract more money from the government, foundations and other sources to support those programs.
Schools in my state are now hiring autism teachers, no doubt in part, due to the moolah.
Questions for debate:
1.)Are we overdiagnosing autism?
2.)Is autism "spectrum" authentic or genuine autism? Why or why not?
