Agree.

People that think it is clearly have never written a single line of production level code in their entire lives.
Not so much. People treat it like one because with scripts it can in fact serve as an IDE by any reasonable definition. I prefer it to most standalone IDEs for the simple fact that I can decide how much and what kind of integration I want.

Baah. I prefer a nonfacist editor where I can control my indentation, a real debugger that doesn't bork under the pressure of hostile code, and a set of decent makefile rules.
