Perl Books?

Name: Anonymous 2011-05-27 22:50

I've been trying to learn perl for last few weeks from http://www.perl.org/books/beginning-perl/ but it's just too slow. It's for people who don't have any programming experience. I'm not looking for anything specific, just a useful resource for perl and with examples of what perl is actually used for. When I learned Java and C I used the books that were used in my class at my university. Any direction is appreciated. Heck if you prefer Ruby over Perl you can even tell me why. I'm interested.

also let me just be the first person to say SICP..
