I'm so sorry, Mr. Legion. I forgot you were the coolest and edgiest kid in 9th grade. Please forgive me and do to me like you did to scientology. I should have known that the Sports board is actually the random board. Please don't leet hack me now.

I don't think you understand the proper use of sage. It is to be used when your post doesn't contribute anything worthwhile. As you can clearly see, my post is very useful and important. But I still added a space in the e-mail field because I wanted my name to be blue.

Problem?

I don't see a contradiction.

Dearest Bro,

The greater-than as a quote indicator dates to our ancestors in the holy land of Netnews. Thou art truly infantile. As are your arcade-weeaboo exclamations.

I think it's time you went back to the imageboards.

If I did that, you'd be all alone.

There are a number of quotation methods that have significant venerability, and choice betwixt them is merely a matter of taste. You'll just have to put up with people who have different preferences from yourself—it's part of life.

It's true that I haven't looked up the correct syntax (it's probably in a sticky in /vip/ or something) but using greater-thans suits me just fine, particularly since it's just as recognizable. If you want, I can start using full headers on my quotes, like:

If that doesn't fit your liking, we can start experimenting with classic variations, like Thunderbird's format:

Or even a full e-mail header, which I think was created by Outlook having an orgasm:

I'm a stupid pedant who thinks that Haskell is the only acceptable programming language and refuses to work on any real software projects.

It's up to you, really—but you're going to have to put up with it in some form.

It was really more of an accident than anything. I assumed at the time that the correct quotation method was some contorted use of ``faggot quotes'' since people complain about them so often. BOY WAS I DISAPPOINTED.
