Wanna learn how to program?

Don't know where to start?

We're having a "Learning the basics of programming" session at #/g/sicp on Rizon. You can use mibbit.com (ajax based) if you don't have an IRC client installed.

We're using Python 2.7, please have it installed and configured. If you can't do it, we'll troubleshoot. No specific OS is needed.

Join up! People with programming experience are also wanted; You can join our (cool) projects and help newbies.

What are you waiting for?

I think you posted in the wrong board, there are no beginners here, only EXPERT PROGRAMMERS

Name: Anonymous 2011-05-01 19:57

Thank you for your input. We thought that there may however be a handful of younger programmers around who are wishing to really get into things, and thus seeking a starting point here. Thus, we felt it may be appropriate to share our efforts here.

lol I bet the admin in #/g/sicp is running a fuckyou.pl bot

Not at all. We've been quite seriously working to help get new members involved with programming in a comforting and friendly environment. We've had a handful of new members join recently who have really made some significant progress with it, too.

Sounds like a nice project.

This is a good resource. Whenever a beginner comes here looking for how to begin, we can now direct them to this channel.

Why would you use Python instead of Scheme to go through SICP? It sounds suspiciously like the Anticudder's work.

Unfortunately, as I am not one of the channel's founders, I can't really explain why we don't use Lisp when SICP is part of our title, but there it is.

Rizon doesn't offer cloaks and privacy. Kindly move to Freenode or OFTC.

It has vhosts. /hs help
There are also cloaks, but they are for staff-only.

Unlike freenode, you can get a vhost instantly after registering, you don't even have to wait a few weeks until your nick is old enough.

Yeah, why not going through SICP's exercises and bring the satori to the masses?

As I said I can't really comment on that as I am not a founding member. You're more than welcome to drop by and help out, though.

We'd love to have some more Lisp programmers join in and help out if any of you are ever interested.

lithp ith for faggotth. wanting lithp programmerth to join in a community ith equivalent to wish death upon that community

The people in that channel are like people in any other IRC channel, complete fags.

Name: Anonymous 2011-05-02 12:02

Unlike that great bastion of heterosexuality that is /prog/.

I would join, but I hate spreading knowledge.

Don't change these.
