You just have 2 different opposed magic user groups, one looking sciency (without doing actual science) and one looking religious (without doing anything that could be identified with the religions they mention, except for use of symbolic references, of course, at least in their world their religion actually has testable hypotheses, unlike our reality) battling each other. There is no ``science'' and ``religion'' crossing paths, it's just 2 magical user groups battling each other. That's fine as
fiction, just don't call it
science, unless the
method[1] is used.
