Keep yourself on your dirty Ubuntu. Your hands are already rotten.

Why don't you go for some more-of-the-same and get the good-for-nothing Debian?

I must say: I'm using Windows 7, but my notebook has Arch. Spot on, gentleman.

notebook has Arch
How does that work? Did you draw it with a pencil? Or do you mean "laptop"?

Name: Anonymous 2011-04-02 6:08

"notebook" is the most used term where I live. Somehow laptop sounded like a different kind of a notebook (the portable PC).

See an Asus EEE? That's what a laptop sounds like. See a... hmm... HP DV-7? Sounds like a notebook.

I vaguely remember some trivia that the term notebook was adopted when someone sued some company after his laptop made him sterile. I can't find any source for this now so, I'm probably mistaken.

Asus Eee used to be referred to as a "netbook". But go on, call it a sketchbook or a herbarium. The world would be much better if everyone had its own language.

Name: Anonymous 2011-04-02 12:04

Can I disagree?

I think languages exist to make a standard. And it is not the end of the world to just comply to that kind of standard.

So it would be worse. No one would understand each other.

I just used notebook because since I came to have internet acess (12 years ago), I have seen both usages in english-native websites. So I thought it was "ok" to use any of them.

Name: Anonymous 2011-04-02 12:31

Wrong. English has absolutely no standard.

The guy distinguishes laptop and notebook. You're stating that they are the same thing and that he is correct.

Somehow laptop sounded like a different kind of a notebook (the portable PC).

And we should all go back to /g/

I don't really distinguish them. It's just a "FEELING" the word passes. I am aware they refer to the same thing.

The only kind of portable computer a /prog/lodyte could possibly have is a NEETbook.
